Liftera 2 uses focused ultrasound energy and patented Thermal Diffusion Treatment (TDT™) to target structural layers beneath the skin. Its Pen and Line applicators help practitioners work precisely across facial contours and delicate areas including the eye area, cheeks and jawline.
Who is it suitable for?
This treatment may suit people looking for:
- A non-surgical option for a firmer-looking lower face and improved jawline definition.
- Subtle, natural-looking improvement to early sagging, fine lines or tired-looking skin.
- Targeted treatment of delicate areas including around the eyes, cheeks and jawline.
- A preventative “baby lift” for patients wanting to support skin firmness earlier.
Who is it not suitable for?
HIFU may be contraindicated for people who:
- Are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have active infections, cold sores, a significantly impaired skin barrier or a history of keloid scarring.
- Have had cancer or chemotherapy within the last two years.
- Have peripheral vascular or bleeding disorders, multiple sclerosis or hypoesthesia.
- Have surgical metal pins or plates beneath the area being treated.
- Have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, active cystic acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis or broken skin in the treatment area.
- Have recently had deep chemical peels, laser resurfacing, surgery or newly formed scar tissue.
- Have recently had dermal fillers, muscle relaxants or thread lifts.
Your clinician will review your health and treatment history during consultation.
What should I expect during the procedure?
Treatment typically takes about 45 minutes. You may feel mild to moderate warmth as the ultrasound energy is delivered, with more noticeable discomfort possible over bony areas such as the jawline and cheeks.
What is the downtime?
There is generally no planned downtime, although temporary responses can include:
- Mild redness and swelling immediately after treatment.
- Warmth, tingling or tenderness for 1–5 days.
- Rare temporary numbness, a cold sore outbreak, bruising or blistering.
When will I see results, and how long can they last?
A subtle lift may be visible immediately. As new collagen and elastin develop, the skin can continue to improve over 1–3 months. A course of 2–3 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart may be recommended, and results may last around 12 months depending on individual biology, skin type and lifestyle.
How should I prepare?
- One month before: avoid fake tan, tanning beds, excess sun exposure, cosmetic injections, IPL or laser rejuvenation, microdermabrasion and chemical peels in the treatment area.
- Two weeks before: stop prescription retinoids and avoid antibiotics or photosensitising medicines unless your treating clinician advises otherwise.
- One week before: stop benzoyl peroxide and avoid laser hair reduction. If you are prone to cold sores, ask your pharmacist or clinician about preventative treatment.
- Three days before: pause active ingredients including vitamins A and C, AHAs and BHAs, and avoid waxing, shaving or epilating the area.
- On the day: drink water before arriving and avoid makeup or jewellery in the treatment area.
What aftercare is recommended?
- First 24 hours: avoid UV exposure and makeup. Avoid ice or cold compresses unless your treating clinician directs you otherwise.
- Up to five days: use a gentle hydrating cleanser, avoid scented products and active ingredients, and avoid very hot water.
- First week: avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, spas, pools, waxing and exfoliation of treated skin.
- Ongoing: apply SPF 30 or higher daily, limit direct sun exposure and keep the skin well hydrated.
